The construction of a traffic management park for trucks circulating on the N4 to the Ports of Maputo and Matola, located in Pessene, commenced on July 3, 2023.
Under the management of Sociedade de Desenvolvimento do Porto de Maputo (MPDC), the work aims to quickly respond to the challenges of traffic congestion on the N4, as part of the Ministry of Transport and the Maputo Provincial Government’s initiative to bring greater sustainability and development to the Maputo Corridor, launched last April.
The first phase of the work will take about 90 days (for cleaning, earth moving, fencing and inclusion of basic water and energy services) at a cost of approximately 3 million US dollars.
In addition to the traffic management park, a second phase of the project will also include commercial services and the development of some port processing activities that will allow for greater efficiency.
